Business confidence climbs as UK firms tackle recession
A recent report has shown that UK businesses are feeling more confident about their short and medium-term futures. The latest findings would seem to indicate that businesses are taking firm action towards handling the effects of the recession.
The ‘Business Trends' report, which is conducted by business advisers BDO Stoy Hayward, saw the Optimism Index rise from 89.9 in January to 90.5 in February, the first time it has grown for 13 months.
The news comes in the same week as the release of a report from the British Chambers of Commerce (the BCC), which aims to provide a strategic framework that will aid the recovery of the UK economy. Some of the report's suggestions include freezing the national minimum wage in 2009, training and re-training people ill-equipped for recession, and encouraging further relations between Local Authorities and local businesses.
