Sole traders plan business growth over 2010

According to recent research by the Business Link, more than 50% of sole traders studied are planning to grow their business over the course of the year.

Contrary to popular belief the study shows that a lack of finances is not the main concern facing small businesses and sole traders. Many firms have suggested that a lack of customer demand is their greatest concern with one fifth of companies stating that customers spending less and winning business was their principal concern for 2010.

The Chief Executive of the Business Link, Patrick Elliot, remarked:

"It goes without saying that different businesses, whether we analyse them by industry, ownership or business type, are all coping and reacting with the recession in different ways. No one business is the same and each requires individual support to maximise success in 2010.”
